About Us

The decision to create Sowing Futuros came from a personal connection to Nicaragua. Our grandmother on our Mom's side is from Managua, Nicaragua and originally sparked our interest in the region and passion to assist. In 2020, our family took a trip with the Fair Trade organization to visit Nicaragua, which is what opened our eyes to the issues, which previously we knew little about. We got to see firsthand the harsh realities many of these people face in the country. From there we started researching and have learned so many devastating things including the fact that over 3,000 non-profits have been shut down in Nicaragua over the last three years alone. Organizations such as the Red Cross and those affiliated with the Catholic Church are no longer providing aid to people in the region. This greatly limits aid to people who rely on these non-profit organizations to survive which is what inspired us to created our own non-profit.
